Travel to Phong Nha cave
From Phan Dinh Phung street, Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province, follow Ho Chi Minh road to start the tour of Phong Nha cave in Phong Nha-Ke Bang World Natural Heritage, in order to Phong Nha, visitors come to the wharf to boat on Son river to Phong Nha cave.
Phong Nha Cave
The Son river is about 35-40 meters wide with a blue water line that clearly sees the fish swimming. The river water is blue, but it is called Son river because in the rainy season, rainwater erodes the rocks in the mountains and falls down to make the river water red like lipstick.
The two banks of the Son river are also green mountains. Motorboats carrying tourists back and forth closely follow the river. Phong Nha cave is 7,729m long. The cave gate is 20-25m wide, 10m high. The boatman sail the boat quietly into the Phong Nha cave. Cave gate is trapezoidal, about 10 meters high, 20-25 meters wide. In the cave, the feeling of summer heat in the Central region immediately disappears.

The cave consists of 14 cave chambers, connected by a water corridor up to 1500m long. The outer caves have a ceiling about 10m higher than the water surface. From the 4th cave onwards, the ceiling hangs from 25-50m high. In addition, after the 14th cave, there are other corridors going deeper to reach the bigger caves but there is a risk that the limestone weathering process continues, so the itinerary usually only goes to the 14th cave and then redirect.
